Download & Installation Instructions for Updates to Software from Custom Data Centre

These instructions were prepared for use with Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Vista Business.
If you use a different web browser and/or Windows operating system, your screens may appear slightly different.

This example illustrates the downloading of an update to our GAS MANager software.
If you are downloading an update for a different application, the installation paths will be different.
Each update file is loaded with the default installation path for the application to which it belongs. 

Before installing an update to any software, it is advisable to make a backup of the original program files.

Download Instructions

Clicking on the desired file link will begin the download process.  The screen sample below resembles the first screen that will appear after you have selected a file for download.  Be sure to click on the "Save" button.

Next, you will be asked to specify where the downloaded file should be saved.  Save the file to a directory where it will be easy to find once the download is complete.  You might find that the Desktop is a convenient place to download to because the downloaded file will be easy to find.  

After clicking on the Save button above, the download process will begin as indicated by a screen like the image below.

When the download has been completed, a screen like the sample below will be shown to indicate that the downloaded file has been placed in the location specified above.  Click on the Close button to complete the download.  If you had "checked" the box to "Close this dialog box when download completes", the following screen will not be displayed.

Installation Instructions

Ensure that none of the programs that you are updating are currently running on your computer.  Programs that are currently in use cannot be updated and an error condition will result.

Locate the downloaded file at the download location specified above.  Program updates are provided as a self-extracting ZIP file that can be executed by double-clicking on it with your mouse.

If you see a Security Warning message, choose the "Open" or "Run" option.

When the self-extracting ZIP file is executed, a screen like the above example will be displayed.  If your program files have been installed in a location other than the location that appears in the "Unzip to folder" field, you will need to specify the correct location by typing it or by using the Browse button.  Once the correct location has been provided, click on the Unzip button.

When the ZIP file contents have been extracted to the specified location, a message like the above example will be displayed.  Clicking on the OK button will cause the message to disappear.  Click on the Close button to close the WinZip Self-Extractor.  The downloaded program/report files are now ready for use.
